Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian on Tuesday resigned from the Union Council of Ministers after the end of the Rajya Sabha term.
The move comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided not to field it again in the recent upper house elections.
President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation, according to a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
Apart from the Minority Affairs portfolio, Kurian also served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
