Bengaluru’s five municipal corporations have proposed to increase the permissible deviation in building structures from the existing 5% to 15% by amending building regulations. The Corporations have also proposed to levy a penalty for regularization of deviation within permissible limits as a percentage of the guide value of the land, indicating that it is also revenue eradication. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) called it a “people-friendly decision”.
“Due to high land prices in Bengaluru and various unavoidable reasons, it has been observed that many land owners have constructed buildings with certain deviations from the approved plan, often leaving minor setbacks and facing problems. As per current rules, only 5% deviation can be regulated.
