Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to conduct a detailed survey for the construction of a road in the Bellandur Lake buffer zone to ease traffic congestion in the area.
During an inspection of sites in the East and South City Corporation limits on Tuesday, Mr. Rao instructed the authorities to assess the feasibility of constructing the road, survey the land in the buffer zone and submit a comprehensive report. The proposed road, approximately 1 km long and 24 meters wide, will include provision for public movement and recreational use and is expected to substantially reduce traffic along the Bellandur Lake Dam Road.
The GBA chief said steps have been initiated to construct a 1.4 km long buffer road as an alternative to the Wind Tunnel Road. The land for this project belongs to HAL, whose authorities have given approval for the communication. Tenders have been floated and government approval is being sought, with officials instructed to start work as soon as possible.
Mr. Rao also inspected the ongoing construction of the 2.6 km long buffer road connecting Ejipura Inner Ring Road with Sarjapur Outer Ring Road.
