Chief coach India Gautam Gambhir expressed his concern about the tragic decline in Bengalur, which claimed 11 lives and left almost 50 injured during the victory of Royal Challengers Bengalur IPL 2025.
Despite the fact that the event was rejected and organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), nearly 2.5 lakh fans gave the stadium complex, which led to chaos and a fatal bumper. Among the deceased were young men and women aged 13 to 35 years. Six deaths were reported in Bowring Hospital, four in the hospital, and one in the hospital.
Gambhir, who addressed the media, repeated his long -term opinion that such celebrations on an open road were not unnecessary. “I’ve always been a great believer that we don’t have to have a roadshows. I believed it even though I played. I said the same thing after we won the 2007 World Championship – that we shouldn’t have a roadshow. Life is more important and I will continue to say it in the future.”
Gambhir urged to re -evaluate how teams celebrate with fans, and urged the organizers to assess more caution. “In the future, we should be a little more aware of the planning of these roadshow. We could consider hosting such celebrations inside. We shouldn’t have done it. Fans are enthusiastic, fanbase are emotional – but nothing is more important than human lives,” he said.
“You can’t lose 11 people in any time. The roadshow shouldn’t happen to me,” Gambhir added.
The tragedy raised serious questions about the planning of events and management of the crowd, especially in a country where cricket celebrations often attract massive emotional gatherings.
