Bengaluru’s Avalahalli police have registered a case against the driver of a garbage truck for allegedly running over and killing a 10-month-old female stray dog in Konadasapura village on October 16.

According to the complaint filed by Veena N., a resident of Seetharayya Road in Konadasapura village, the incident took place around 7.44 am when the puppy was sitting by the roadside.

The complainant alleges that the driver of the garbage truck, Chakku Miah, did not sound his horn or make an apparent attempt to alert the dog before running the animal over.

Even after the vehicle hit the puppy, the driver allegedly did not stop and ran over the animal again, killing it on the spot.

People who witnessed the incident reportedly told the driver to stop. They told him not to move the vehicle after noticing a puppy trapped under the truck.

However, the driver allegedly ignored their warning and moved the vehicle.

The Avalahalli police have registered a case under the Cruelty to Animals Act and also under Section 325 of the BNS.
