Another monsoon season is around the corner and GAP Road in IDUKKI, part of the Munnar-Bodimette section on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Motorway, will turn into a trap for the death of tourists and commuting. On Monday evening, representatives of the Ministry of Income reported a smaller landslide near Gap Road after heavy rainfall. Officials say that at 17:00 the landslides from above -ground slopes fell on the section. After the landslide, police officials from Santhanpary and Devicula threw themselves on the scene and temporarily suspended traffic on the route.
District collector V. Vigneshwari later ordered a temporary ban on operation along the section until the next announcement. On the basis of the Devikulama report Tahsildar, however, the district collector withdrew the ban and continued on Tuesday morning.
Devicula Tahsildar Santhosh Kumar said that the report stressed that there is currently no rain and traffic will continue.
According to the source of the Ministry of Income, 1.5 km gaps on the NH road continues to be a threat to tourists and commuting. “On Monday, this area came with heavy rainfall and suddenly land landslide. The trash of passengers from Tamil Nadu escaped closely when the debris landed on the road adjacent to moving vehicle.
G. Soyan, the coordinator of the My Munnar movement, expressed concern about repeated landslides. “After restricting travel to Ooty and Kodaikanal, Munnar Hill was a rush of tourists during a summer holiday. Most Tamil Nadu tourists arrive at Munnar Hill through the GAP road.
Previously, however, the National Authority for the India motorway (Nhai) announced that the soil detection system in this section remains on paper. According to officials, after repeated landslides, Nhai planned to install the cost -effective SESU detection system on the section last year.
According to the revenue department officials, Nhai can only install any system to prevent repeated landslides. The section has witnessed more than 22 landslides since the beginning of the road expansion.
