The Rayachoti police on Monday busted a big ganja racket and seized 34 kg of cannabis worth over ₹10.2 million. They arrested 14 persons, including a woman, during a special operation in Kalakada mandal of Annamayya district.
Police said the operation was launched based on reliable information. The special team acted swiftly and raided the hideout at Bangaruvandlapalli on the Nadimicherla–Kottapalli road in the morning. The accused allegedly arranged for the transfer of contraband to the vehicle. When the police discovered the group, they tried to flee, but were apprehended by a special team who took them into custody.
The blitz further led to the seizure of an autorickshaw, three motorcycles and 12 mobile phones. Preliminary investigation revealed that the main accused, Shaik Basha of Annamayya district, was procuring ganja supplies from Odisha through a district-wide distribution channel.
Madanapalle Division has registered a case and started further investigation. The accused were sent to custody.
