In what is probably the first, the police in the southwest of the division arrested a gang of eight people who allegedly operated online investment frauds that dupping investors with a high degree of revenue and hacking into their account have forced a malicious APK to be downloaded.
The accused not only cheated hundreds of people across the country and even outside the ground, but also cheated on one of their employees, which helped the police break the case.
After being cheated, one of the team members came out of the ring and warned the police. On the basis of Tip-off, a special police team led by DCP South West Anith Haddanavar performed a series of raids in seven places and arrested eight persons allegedly red.
Several seized devices
Police confiscated 15 laptops, 40 mobile phones, 11 pen drives, 42 mobile SIMUS, 4 iPads, two hard drive units, 10 memory cards, foreign currencies, expensive branded watches, computer machines for currencies and more than 50 documents from bank accounts.
The explanation of Modus Operandi and the leading police officer said the accused was sending random messages on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, and offer a high return on investment.
The accused would then send an APK link to those who answered and showed interest and asked them to click on the file and complete the formality and join the investment group. Once the criminal link was click, the accused would approach the account data and transfer the money to various back accounts.
The case was registered against the accused at the Kengeri police station and the investigation was further monitored by the victims of fraud. People who lost money can approach the police to report it.
