On Friday (December 26), police in the temple town arrested as many as seven members of a gang involved in fleeing devotees who claimed to have organized a “quick darshan” at Bheemeshwaralayam in Vemulawada.
Following complaints from several devotees, police in the temple town kept a vigil and nabbed the gang members, sources said. The gang minted money by exploiting gullible devotees in the wake of a surge in devotee participation ahead of next month’s jatara season.
In view of the expansion and development of the historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temples currently underway at Vemulawada, arrangements for darshan and arjitha sevas have been made at Bheemeshwaralayam for the benefit of the devotees.
The police advised devotees to buy tickets for arjitha seva and prasadam from the temple’s authorized sales counters.
