
Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir congratulated Cheteshwar Pujara after the veteran dough announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket on Sunday, August 24th. Gambhir, also the former Indian dough, praised Pujar’s resistance and the ability to save matches, properties that defined his long and celebrated test career.

When Gambhir came to his story Instagram, he wrote: “When the storm was raging, he stood tall, fought when hope disappeared. Congratulations I pay.”
‘Impossible to give words’
Previously, Pujara announced his retirement and expressed that it was a privilege to wear a national jersey and pass on his deep gratitude for the journey.
“Wearing an Indian jersey, sing the anthem, and try every time I entered the field – it is impossible to give by saying what it really meant. But as they say, all good things and immense gratitude have to leave.”
Cheteshwar Pujara launched a test trip against Australia in Bengalur in October 2010. Almost thirteen years later, his career came in a full circle when he played his last test, appropriately against Australia, in the final of the World Championship in 2023 in the final of the oval.
