With just weeks at the Grand Mysuru Dasar festival, which is to be held from 22 September to October 2.

District Minister HC Mahadevappa, Minister of Forest Eshwar B. Khandre, Higher Forestry Office, elected representatives from MYSUR and others will participate “Gajapayana”.

The first dose of Dasar’s elephants will be led by Tusker Abhimanyu, who is also scheduled to carry the golden Howdah on the day of the procession. Other elephants that were included in the narrower choice include Dhananjaya, Bheema, Kanjan, Equalavya, Prashanth, Mahendra, Kaneri and Ballem Lakshmi. The second dose of five elephants from other camps will join them in a month. Elephants will initially be submitted to Aranya Bhavan for a few days before they march to the palace area, which will be their temporary dwelling until the dasary closure.
Meanwhile, the District Administration completed all measures for the stay of elephants, mahouts and their family members in the palace. Annexes were created for elephants, while a temporary residential facility was created for Mahouts. A team of veterinary officers will be in charge of elephants who will remain on a special diet, and most of the forest department employees will be deployed to take care of them.
