Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said on Tuesday that the Israeli prime minister has “full confidence” in Indian security under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and teams are already coordinating a new date for the visit.
According to reports, Netanyahu was scheduled to visit India in December. However, the visit is postponed. The reason for the postponement of the visit is not yet known.
“Israel’s bond with India and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister @narendramodi is very strong. The Prime Minister has full confidence in India’s security under PM Modi and teams are already coordinating a new date for the visit,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a post on X.
A fortnight ago, after a powerful blast tore through a slow-moving car near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station, killing 13 people, Netanyahu expressed solidarity, saying terror may strike our cities but never shake our souls.
“To our dear friend @narendramodi and the brave people of India: Sara and I and the people of Israel send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands firmly with you in grief and strength at this time,” Netanyahu wrote on social media in both Hindi and English,” the Israeli prime minister said.
Describing India and Israel as ancient civilizations that “stand on eternal truths,” the Israeli prime minister emphasized that “terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls.”
“The light of our nations will overshadow the darkness of our enemies,” he declared.
In October, Modi called Netanyahu to congratulate him on the progress made on the “Gaza Peace Plan”.
“I called my friend Prime Minister Netanyahu to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. We reaffirmed that terrorism in any form or expression is unacceptable anywhere in the world,” Modi said at X.
Last week, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited Israel where he met Netanyahu and other key leaders.
India and Israel also signed a Terms of Reference (ToR) to formally begin negotiations on the agreement.
“We have signed the terms today. We will now finalize the dates for the commencement of negotiations soon,” Goyal told reporters. Goyal is leading a 60-member trade delegation to Israel. He will meet with leaders and businesses to discuss ways to boost bilateral trade and investment.
The assignment includes, among other things, the access of goods to the market by removing tariff and non-tariff barriers, facilitating investments and simplifying customs procedures.
