On Saturday near Chinna Suriyur, a convict was detained on Friday, who escaped from the central prison Tiruchi.

The convicted, J. Rajendran, 49, from Kumbakonami, issued a life sentence under the law of Pocso for the sexual assault of the minor. It was assigned as a kitchen assistant in the prison dining room, located outside the main prison. On Friday morning he was taken with five other prisoners to service but disappeared around 8:30
After a complaint from the Prison Administration, the Police of KK Nagar registered the case and started searching. Based on Tip-off, Rajendran was found to hide near the pond in Chinna Suriyur.
