Frustrated Kavya Maran in tears as SRH crash in IPL Eliminator vs Rajasthan Royals

SunRisers Hyderabad were comprehensively defeated by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 Eliminator on Wednesday, May 27. And perhaps no one felt the heartache more than SRH owner Kavya Maran, who watched her side slowly disintegrate from the stands at the Mullanpur Stadium.

SRH endured a miserable outing with both bat and ball. First came Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s stunning 29-ball 97, an innings that completely threw Hyderabad off balance in the first innings. Then, chasing, Jofra Archer tore through SRH’s top order with a fiery new-ball spell, reducing the side to 57/4 in just 4.4 overs.

As the wickets continued to pour in, Kavya Maran’s usually composed expression slowly began to change. With every dismissal, the pressure mounted on SRH, a team known for fearless and aggressive batting this season. At the end of the 10th over, with the match all but lost, Kavya could only watch helplessly as Hyderabad’s campaign fizzled out.

KAVYA MARAN TROLLED AFTER SRH vs RR

Kavya Maran also found herself at the center of social media trolling after the defeat, especially from sections of the Chennai Super Kings fan base. Many fans were going back to SRH’s league win in Chennai where both Kavya and Ishan Kishan animatedly gestured towards the crowd after sealing the victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

After Wednesday’s loss, several fans on social media urged Kavya to remain humble in victory, pointing out how quickly fortunes can change in a tournament like the IPL.

SRH CAMPAIGN ENDS AT THE HANDS OF A 15-YEAR-OLD CHILD

SunRisers Hyderabad came into the match having won both their matches against Rajasthan Royals this season. Despite the psychological advantage, SRH failed to put any pressure on the off-spinner Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old tackled SRH skipper Pat Cummins and set the tone for the match.

His innings of 97 runs off just 29 balls helped RR to a mammoth total of 243 runs in the first innings of the match. SRH failed to deal with the pressure in the chase and ended up losing half of their batting order in the powerplay itself.

From this point it was just a matter of how soon RR were able to wrap up the side. SRH took the match to the final and scored 192 runs. Nitish Reddy top-scored for the side, with 38 runs off 20 balls.
