The Borussia Dortmund midfielder was included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad announced on Friday, marking another major milestone in the 21-year-old’s fast-growing career.Jobe, who has represented England from Under-16 level to Under-21s, earned a promotion to the senior team after impressive performances for Dortmund and the Young Lions. His first call-up also sets up a special moment for the Bellingham family, with the younger sibling joining Real Madrid midfielder Jude in the national squad.England celebrated the milestone with a post on X, writing: “From our young lions to three lions, Job Bellingham. Congratulations on your very first senior international call-up!”The appointment comes as a reward for Jobe’s progress since joining Borussia Dortmund, where he has continued to establish himself following his move from Sunderland. His inclusion alongside Jud offers the brothers an opportunity to play together at a high international level.
Palmer misses out again as Tuchel makes changes
While Jobe’s inclusion grabbed the headlines, notable omissions from Tuchel’s squad included Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer. The 24-year-old was recalled from international duty last month but stepped down after the inconvenience, having previously missed England’s September camp with a muscle injury.Palmer’s latest absence comes despite a productive start to the season for Chelsea, with five goals and three assists in 11 games across all competitions.Tuchel expressed his frustration at the midfielder’s repeated withdrawals after the September camp due to injuries.“It’s another missed opportunity. He missed too many opportunities,” Tuchel said at the time. “I don’t blame him, it’s just a fact. He’s missing too many camps with injuries.”The German also stressed the importance of having players available during the international camps, saying: “He misses too many camps with injuries and I just want to rely on what I witness and what I see in my team and that’s why you have to be in the camp.Another notable absentee was Manchester City striker Phil Foden, who continued to be overlooked after being left out of the World Cup squad.Fulham attacking midfielder Josh King also earned his first senior England call-up after previously joining the national team’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida.
England face Croatia and Spain
England, currently second in Group C, host Croatia at Wembley on November 12 before traveling to Madrid to face Spain on November 15.These two games will give Jobe his first opportunity to make a senior international appearance, while also offering the Bellingham brothers the prospect of sharing the pitch in England colours.
