Given the growing pure migration in the UK, the British government led the Labor Party, a white book that outlined its plan to intervene immigration. This is not good news for Indians who settle in the UK.
The White Book entitled “Restoring Control over the Immigration System” encapsulates the Labour Government Plan led by Keir Starmer to intervene on growing migration. The plan includes a higher threshold for obtaining work visas, expanding the network of English language to dependent persons and what is important, thereby extending the time period, as the state is eligible for citizenship. The government statement says that the White Book sets plans to create an immigration system that promotes growth but is controlled and managed.
An experienced visa of workers
The White Book mentions that the threshold value for qualified staff visas should be increased to a postgraduate level from the current measure at level A. This will adversely affect nursing staff who are hired overseas. There are expectations that the changes will reduce to 50,000 lower qualified and care workers who are likely to come to the UK next year.
Longer waiting for settlement
Migrants will have to wait 10 years to apply for the UK, rather than five years within the current system. This means that migrants who come to the UK work visa will be entitled to request for ILR (indefinite holiday) after 10 years instead of the current five.
The request of the English language
Another rule that has been introduced is the requirement of English on every immigration trip to the UK. This is the first time that dependent adult persons will have to prove some knowledge in English to integrate with the population. Critics said this would lead to the division of families when partners or parents do not get a qualification for basic English skills.
The student appears
Currently, students are eligible to stay for two years without surpassed on a postgraduate visa. The White Book recommends lowering this period to 18 months. The graduation visa was re -introduced in 2021 to allow graduates to remain in the UK for 24 months (36 for PhD holders) so that they could look for work during this period.
The White Book states that only 30 percent of the postgraduate visa holders have been employed in professional professions, while others were either unemployed or employed in administrative or secretary professions.
