The Minister held talks with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna to discuss options for further development of its operations in India while exploring opportunities for greater collaboration in new and advanced technologies. Sharing details of the meeting, Goyal wrote in his post on X: “We discussed ways to build on IBM’s long-standing presence in India and deepen collaboration across AI, cloud infrastructure, quantum computing and other frontier technologies, leveraging India’s vast talent pool and rapid digital adoption to innovate and scale solutions for the world.”

He also held a meeting with AIA Group Non-Executive Chairman Mark Tucker during which they discussed the group’s engagement in India and opportunities to enhance investment in the financial services and insurance sectors. The minister highlighted India’s regulatory reforms and growing demand for insurance coverage, adding that both are creating new opportunities for global insurers, ANI reported. On X, he wrote, “With comprehensive regulatory reforms and growing demand for insurance coverage, India offers global insurers an ideal platform for long-term growth, in line with our national vision of insurance for all by 2047.”

Goyal also met General Atlantic Chairman and CEO William E. Ford, with whom he discussed opportunities for the investment firm to strengthen its trade and investment ties with India. During the meeting, Goyal and Ford also discussed ways to further strengthen the company’s engagement in the country by leveraging opportunities arising from India’s growing economy.

Goyal also met MetLife President and CEO Michel A. Khalaf to discuss the insurer’s prospects in India. Their conversation touched on the expanding insurance and financial services market, growing interest in long-term savings and protection products, and India’s pool of technology professionals. Goyal said India would like to support MetLife as it seeks to expand its presence in the country.

He also met with Stéphane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, and discussed opportunities for the company to further strengthen its presence in India through increased manufacturing and sourcing from the country, while tapping into its growing beauty and personal care market.

The minister also held a meeting with Blackstone executives and discussed ways to deepen the company’s partnership with India and investments in India.

Goyal’s meetings with executives of several US companies come against the backdrop of ongoing trade talks between India and the US. While relations between Delhi and Washington have come under strain over differences over tariffs and a pending bilateral trade deal, Goyal’s reach over the company signals a parallel push by India to attract more US investment.
