In order to ensure fair access to the ticket to Tatkal and the rims of the Indian railway abuse on Wednesday (June 11, 2025), they announced a number of Tatkal ticket reservations.
The new provisions include Aadhaar authentication as a prerequisite for Tatkal online bookings. “Since July 1, Tatkal tickets will be reserved via the official IRCTC website and the mobile application only available to users verified by Aadhaar,” spokesman of the Ministry of Railways said.
The spokesman also said that the authentication of OTP based on Aadhaar would become mandatory for all online reservations from 15 July.
In addition to online transactions, the Ministry also made a provision for offline Tatkal reservations. “Tatkal tickets reserved in computer computer computers to reserve passengers (BRS) and via authorized agents will require an OTP verification sent to a mobile number provided by the user at the time of booking,” the spokesman said. This provision will also enter into force from 15 July.
In order to prevent mass reservations during the critical opening window, Indian Railways showed allowed ticket agents to reserve Tatkal tickets in the first 30 minutes of reservation windows. “For AC classes, this restriction is valid from 10:00 to 10:30 and for class outside AC, from 11:00 to 11:30,” the spokesman said.
The purpose of the ministry is to strengthen these changes to strengthen the mechanisms of authentication of users and ensure that the quota is beneficial to the real passengers.
The railways urged passengers to connect their Aadhaar numbers with their IRCTC user profiles to avoid inconvenience. In addition, the Center for Information Systems of Railway Information (CRIS) and IRCTC was instructed to introduce the required systemic modifications and correspond corresponding to all zonal railways and relevant departments.
