
Hyderabad Friends of Snakes Society (FOS), whose members actively participate in saving snakes in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, completed 30 years of June 30.
In memory of the anniversary and leadership of the World Day of Snakes (July 16), Snakebite would initiate an alleviation initiative to reduce the death of snakes in two Teluga countries by half by 2030.
A key part of the initiative is a specialized website www.snakebite.in, which would be launched in a few days. Contains information about the tool locator for snake treatment; First aid protocols for Hadybity; Snake 24/7 identification cell, where people can give photos online and region specific to poisonous snake types and distribution of poisonous snakes.
“In addition to the digital platform, FOS workshops to alleviate and manage snakes at different levels, focus on local healthcare professionals, school teachers, Panchayat leader and forest staff,” said Avinash Visvanathan, Secretary General of the Society.
Emphasis will be placed on areas where there is a high incidence of snake bites. Mr. Avinash said they address people in rural areas, communities and healthcare workers in primary health centers in these regions.
