A thirty -year -old French tourist was reportedly raped in Rajasthan’s Udaipur after being lured by an employee for event management.
The woman who arrived in Udaipur from Delhi 22 June remained in the hotel in the Ambamata area. On Monday evening she attended a party at a restaurant near Tiger Hills, where she met the accused, identified as Pushp Raj.
According to the first information report (fir), the accused involved it in an interview and offered to show her around the city. “Later he took her to his rented apartment in Sukher, where he raped her,” he said.
The victim said she repeatedly asked him to throw her back, but the accused. Her cell phone came to the battery and let her call for help. The woman later admitted to the private hospital in Udaipur, where the hospital staff warned the police. She filed a formal complaint from the hospital and the case was registered pursuant to Section 64 (1) (rape) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit at the Badgaon police station.
Police officials said that a French national is in a stable state and continues to receive medical treatment. The French Embassy in Nový Delhi was informed about the incident. The police started Runhunt for the arrest of the accused, who is currently running.
The opposition Congress warned against possible “international consequences”, especially because the United States has already issued travel consultancy and urged caution for travelers in six Indian countries due to increasing rape. Congress said that Rajasthan could soon be added to such advice.
“Women feel dangerous”
The veteran leader of the congress and former main Minister Ashok Gehlot said the incident revealed the deteriorating situation and order in Rajasthan. “Women across the state feel dangerous, but the government of Bharatiya Janata remains indifferent,” he said.
