The management of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam, which earlier decided to provide ‘sparsha darshan’ to the local Chenchu tribes on one day every month, will start the same from ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ falling on Tuesday (December 30).
Temple Trust Board Chairman P. Ramesh Naidu and Executive Director (EO) M. Srinivasa Rao said in a joint statement on Monday that Chenchus would be allowed to enter through the queue at the Old Donation Counter from 11 am.
Mr. Ramesh Naidu said that Chenchus have a special place in the history and traditions of Srisailam temple. The local Chenchu tribes consider Bhramaramba Devi as their daughter and Mallikarjuna Swamy as their son-in-law, he added.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the Chenchus have been invited for the ‘Brahmotsava Kalyanotsav’ to be held during the ‘Sankranti Brahmotsavams’. Chenchus will offer new clothes, ‘yagyapaveetam’ and loincloth to the ruling deities.
The Chenchus were also given a special invitation to participate in the ‘Varalakshmi Vratam’ conducted during the ‘Sravana Masam’ and were also invited to the recently concluded ‘Koti Deepotsavam’ held during the ‘Karthika Masam’.
The temple administration takes the help of the local ITDA in identifying the Chenchus for free special sparsha darshan.
