
The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign against cervical cancer has entered its final phase in the district. With the campaign ending on May 31, 2026, District Collector G. Priyanka said all eligible girls should get vaccinated to ensure their safety.
Currently, according to the announcement, only 34% (7,496) of the target children in the district are vaccinated. The campaign targets a total of 22,358 girls in the district.
The device will not be available after May 31st. The vaccine is given to girls aged 14 and those up to 15 years and three months of age, he said.
The collector clarified that the vaccine was without any side effects other than mild pain or swelling.
According to the release, the vaccine, which costs ₹4,000 to ₹6,500 in private hospitals, is being provided free of cost in all government hospitals in the district during the campaign period.
