The new French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecorn, the fifth in two years, joined the office on Wednesday in the middle of the vast anti -government protests “Block Everything”.
Lecorn, loyalist selected by President Emmanuel Macron, last served as his Minister of Defense. At noon he arrived in the residence of the Prime Minister, where he met former Prime Minister Francois Bayra.
Bayra was expelled on Monday by parliament for plans to trim the excessive deficit of the country.
The new Prime Minister can use his first speech to outline the plan to achieve a consensus with an indecent parliament to pass the thinned budget for next year.
Until October 7, until October 7, he must submit the entire budget of 2026 by 7 October.
The hard left pledged to try to overthrow Lecorn with immediate movement without confidence, while the extreme right-wing national rally (RN) signaled a preliminary willingness to work with it on the budget-but only if its budget requirements are met.
“His budget will be RN or his government,” Laure Lavalette, lawmaker, wrote on Tuesday.
Lecorn also faces a challenge in the unification of socialists who want to reduce budget cuts and tax rich, with their former party, Republicans who are dead against any tax increase.
Nationwide protests
Meanwhile, thousands of people throughout France went on roads as part of the so -called “Block Everything” protests.
The protest movement began online and gathered steam during the summer, causing extensive hot spots of disruption.
The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with President Macron and the proposed cuts of the budget.
At the national level, approximately 80,000 police workers were deployed to include agitators who disrupted traffic, burned garbage and clash with the security forces.
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said that nearly 200 people were arrested in the first hours of the planned day of national protests.
In the western city of Rennes, a bus was ignited and damaged trains blocked trains on the line in the southwest, he said.
Retailleau also claimed that the protesters were trying to create a “climate of the rebellion”.
