Taiwanese electronic giant Foxconn added a new dose of 276 Crore machines in its Indian unit to increase Apple’s production according to source.
Development comes the day before US President Donald Trump announced that since April 2, he had placed a reciprocal tariff in several countries, including India.
“FoxConn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Private Limited has received 32.25 million USD (about $ 276) for increasing iPhone production in India,” PTI said.
According to the source, Foxconn is working on almost double the production of iPhone in India. E -mail sent by Foxconn and Apple has not caused any answer.
ICEA mobile phone manufacturers have proposed to reduce import duty on mobile phones from US to zero from 15%.
According to ICEA, the US is not the main manufacturing competitor of India across several electronic products. Instead, it offers an export opportunity to export a mobile phone of $ 80 billion.
Foxconn is also designed to start the manufacture of Apple AirPods this month for export at Foxconn in Hyderabad.
AirPods will be the second category of product that Apple will begin to produce in India after iPhone.
