Four workers were killed in a war blast at a factory in Assam’s Cachar

At least four workers were killed in a suspected cylinder explosion at an iron casting unit in Assam’s Cachar district on Sunday (July 26, 2026), police said.

The incident took place in the afternoon at the shared premises of Kade Global Infrastructure LLP and IRID Casting Works LLP in Pangram under Udharbond police station limits, a senior officer said.

“The sudden blast shattered the factory and several people sustained injuries. They were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital where four people were declared brought dead,” he said.

According to preliminary investigations, the blast was caused by an LPG pressure cylinder involved in the spill, the officer said.

Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai went to the spot and reviewed the situation.

He said that ₹5 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased was sanctioned by the Chief Minister.

“Several probes will be conducted by various agencies to find out the exact cause of the blast. If any fault is found, action will be taken against the culprit,” Mr. Rai said.

The civil administration, police and labor commissioner will conduct separate investigations into the incident, he added.
