Four Nepali nationals arrested after street brawl at Vidhana Soudha goes viral

Four Nepali nationals have been arrested after a street brawl on the footpath outside the Vidhana Soudha metro station was caught on video and circulated on social media.

The incident occurred on June 28 around 5:45 p.m. According to police, a verbal altercation broke out between the two groups after one group allegedly objected to the other group disturbing the photo shoot. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, with the men allegedly using helmets and wooden sticks to attack each other.

A passerby recorded an 18-second video of the brawl, which was widely shared on social media and attracted public attention.

Vidhana Soudha police took cognizance of the viral video and registered a suo motu case and started investigation.

The arrested men have been identified as Shakti, Ishwar, Dipendra and another man from Baitadi district in Nepal. Police said the accused are employed as private security guards and hotel workers in KR Puram and Banaswadi. All four were arraigned and remanded in judicial custody. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.

In November last year, the Vidhana Soudha police arrested as many as 11 Nepalese nationals while two minors were detained in connection with a clash that broke out between two groups outside the Vidhana Soudha.
