The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Sunday conducted surprise inspections in Hyderabad’s Alwal area as part of its ongoing drive against illegal medical practice, identifying four establishments where individuals were allegedly practicing allopathy medicine without the required qualification, registration or legal permission.

The inspection was conducted by TGMC members Gundagani Srinivas and Imran. Based on the findings, the board said it will initiate legal action against those violating the provisions of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration Act (TMPR).

According to TGMC, Gopu Srinivas of Shankara Shashanka Clinic was identified during the inspections as practicing modern medicine without valid registration and not having obtained the qualification of Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG); G. Janaki Ramulu of Sri Sai Poly Clinic, a physiotherapist who allegedly dispensed prescriptions for modern medicine beyond the scope of licensed practice; Sudarshan of Komal Clinic, who allegedly provided allopathy services without the required qualification and authorization; and Christopher of Shebha Clinic, who also allegedly practiced modern medicine without the required medical qualifications.

TGMC members alleged that unauthorized practitioners were indiscriminately administering steroids, painkillers, antibiotic injections and other prescription drugs, posing a serious threat to public health. She warned that such practices could lead to kidney damage, contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and put patients’ lives at risk.
