Four ganja peddlers who attacked police arrested
Police in Krishna district and East Godavari district have arrested a four-member gang of ganja sellers who allegedly attacked policemen and caused injuries in separate incidents over the past few days.
Kankipad police arrested A. Avinad, who allegedly assaulted constable D. Srina when the police arrested him near Manikonda village. Avinad sustained bullet injuries in both legs when the police opened fire on him and was taken to hospital. After being discharged from the hospital, he was produced before the court, Assistant Superintendent of Police Gudivada P. Srinivas said.
Eluru Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) GVG Ashok Kumar said the Devarapalli police in East Godavari district arrested Charan, Prabhu and Chinna, the remaining members of the gang. The gang members attacked the police inside Devarapalli police station and escaped while checking the vehicle. Armed Reserve Police Constable V. Venkateswara Rao, who was injured in the attack, is undergoing treatment at a hospital, Mr. Ashok Kumar said. Both cases are under investigation, the IGP added.
