Leptospirosis (roat fever) increases in the district, which leads a strong warning from the medical department.
In the last and half months, 21 confirmed cases were reported, with 26 people showing symptoms and looking for treatment. Recently there were four deaths, which this year reached a total of eight deaths. Alarms, three of which were reported only in May.
16 new cases were confirmed in the last month, followed by another five this month. In the same period of 14 and 12 people, they were looking for hospital care with related symptoms.
Increase in death
While the total number of leptospirosis cases this year did not show a dramatic increase compared to previous years, the increase in death is a serious problem. Reports of the disease appeared from different parts of the district.
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection transmitted by urine or excretion of infected animals, most often rats, dogs, cats and livestock. The bacteria enter the human body through slices or abrasions on the skin or contact with contaminated water and soil.
The key symptoms of leptospirosis are fever with fatigue, severe headache, muscle pain, redness in the eyes, reduced urination and signs of jaundice.
Those working in the agricultural or hygienic sector should wear gloves, shoes and protective clothing. According to the alerts of the medical department, people were warned to avoid working with open wounds; Let injuries recover before re -involvement in risk activities; Take doxycycline or any other preventive medicines, as prescribed by medical officials; Avoid wading through stagnant or flood water whenever possible, and ensure that water storage tanks are properly sealed to prevent contamination of rodents’ urine.

District physician (DMO) TP Sreedevi warned against misalignment for simple jaundice, as diseases may have similar symptoms.
Incorrect diagnosis or traditional self -healing can lead to dangerous results, she said. “Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any symptoms. Do not attempt to solve yourself,” she stressed.
