Telecom giant Telefonica is working with Epic Games to bring the Marketplace app from the “Fortnite” video game maker directly to millions of devices on the Spanish company’s network, the companies said Thursday.
Marketplace應用程序稱為“ Epic Games Store”,將在所有新的兼容的Android設備上預裝在跨西班牙,英國,德國,墨西哥和講西班牙語的拉丁美洲等地區的Telefonica網絡上運行的所有新型Android device.
The move will make it easier for players to download titles including Fortnite, “Fall Guys” and “Rocket League Sidswipe” directly from Epic’s store, rather than relying on traditional apps like Google’s Play Store or Samsung’s Galaxy Store Market market.
This also marks the first time Epic’s gaming store will be pre-installed on Android devices.
The companies said that in the future, users will also be able to download third-party games.
The partnership is also a win for EPIC, which has been trying to expand its video game distribution beyond the official app store of smartphone companies and accusing Alphabet of Google and Samsung choking the App Store Store competition.
Epic Games earlier faced off with Google and iPhone Maker Apple, and their rules would charge up to 30% commission on App Store Payments. After being banned for nearly four years, Fortnite returned to the iPhone on EU and Google’s Android devices in August.
North Carolina-based Cary Epic and Telefonica said they will expand their partnership next year and “bring more benefits to mobile players on Telefonica Network” without further elaboration.
