Former Davangere MLA Yajman Mothi Veeranna died in Davangere on Saturday.
He was 90 and had age-related health problems. He is survived by two sons, including film producer Yajman Mothi Rajendra, and a daughter.
Mothi Veeranna won on a Congress ticket from Davangere in 1989 and subsequently won as a JD(S) candidate in 2004. He got the ‘Yajman’ tile due to his discipline, behavior and ‘zamindari’ background. He also served as the president of the Davangere Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Several people paid their last respects at his Davangere residence and attended the funeral on Saturday evening. Senior political leaders from across the region were among those who paid their last respects.
