Former Minister of Punjab Anil Joshi on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) joined the congress in the presence of the party and former main Minister Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Bhagel here.
His connection came days after Mr. Joshi met the leader of Congress Rahul Gandhi and the general secretary of the party (organization) KC Venugopal in Delhi.
President of the Pandjab Congress Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who decided to join the congress, decided to join the Congress in Chandigrarh. “I welcome him at the party,” he said.
At the ceremony, the opposition leader was present at the Panjab Panjab Singh Bajwa, AMRITSAR Gurjeet Singh Aujl and leaders of other parties. Mr. Joshi, a former BJP leader, was excluded by the Center after criticizing the “incorrect” agricultural agitation against the now repudiated farmers’ laws in 2021. Then he joined Shiromanian Akali Dal (SAD).
Mr. Joshi was elected Amritsar North Mla in 2007 and in surveys 2012 on the BJP ticket. During the SAD-BJP regime in 2012–2017, local authorities, medical education and Minister of Research were produced during the SAD-BJP regime.
He unsuccessfully attacked Lok Sabha surveys from 2024 from the AMRITSAR seat on a sad ticket. In November last year he offered a resignation to Akali Dal.
In June this year, Mr. Joshi joined the orchard in the presence of the President of the Sukhbir Singh Badal in Ludhiana.
