The leader of the Congress of Trinamool and former Western Bengal Minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah died on Friday (April 11, 2025) at his house in Bhangar in the South 24 Parganas district. He was 80 years old.
Mollah, a tenfold MLA, which served as a minister in the cabinets of Jyoti Baso, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Mamata Banerjee, was a prominent agricultural leader. Mollah, a former CPI leader (M), who liked a farmer, had great differences with the former main Minister Buddhadeb Bhattaccharjee over the acquisition of land in singur and nandigram (for a car factory and chemical center). He openly criticized the CPI (M) -Vlevo to the left government in this matter.
After the 34 -year -old left leading government in 2011, Mollah accused Bhattaccharjee and the then Minister of Industry Nirupam Dream for election loss. “He can’t catch a water snake, he went to Cobra,” Mollah said, criticizing the former main minister after the party lost to the Trinamool Congress in the elections to the Assembly.
Mollah, which was excluded in 2014 from CPI (m) for the “anti-part of activity”, floated its own outfit, Banglar Nyaybichar Party. Later he joined the Trinamool Congress.
Mollah was the Minister of the Congress of Trinamool, led by Mamata Banerjee from 2016 to 2021, then held far from politicians because of diseases related to old age.
10 -time legislature
In 1972 he was elected to the State Assembly of Canning Purb and was Minister of Land and Land Reforms in the left front government. The Trinamool Congress appointed him for the Minister to charge the Food Processing Department. Mollah was elected veteran leader from South 24 Parganas 10 times.
The main Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed his condolences of extinction. “” I’m sad and shocked by the death of my colleague Abdur Rezzak Mollah. He was my colleague in the state cabinet. I respected him and honored him. His knowledge and experience in rural life of Bengal, agricultural economy and land reforms were known. Therefore, although he once practiced a policy of another style, it was easy for him to join the government of the mother-mini-manush (Trinamool ideology), ”wrote Mrs. Banerjee on X.
The state government also declared a half -day holiday of Mollah’s death. CPI leader (m) Kanti Gangopadyay visited his house after he received a message about extinction.
