
Former Sri Lanka off-Spinner Sachitho Senanayake was accused of Hambantot High Court for attempting to attract a teammate for fixing matches during 2020 Premier League (LPL).
The Department of the Prosecutor General said it would become the first such accusation of cricket at the national level for repairing matches under the recently introduced anti -corruption law in the country.
In 2023 he was arrested and released on bail.
Forty -year -old played one test, 49 ODI and 24 T20 International for Sri Lanka between 2012 and 2016 for a combined raid of 78 goals. He was a member of Sri Lanka T20 World Cup, which won the World Cup.
According to local media reports, he made a corrupt approach to another national player Ratnayake, who at that time played for Colombo Kings.
“Senanayake also allegedly turned to two other crickets participating in the inauguration LPL in 2020 by telephone from Dubai and tried to persuade them to engage in fixing the matches,” says the report in Sri Lankan mirror ‘.
