
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan (Image credit: X) Former India cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan on Friday announced his retirement from the commentary panel of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, citing lack of opportunities to hold toss and presentation ceremonies.Sivaramakrishnan said he was consistently overlooked for key broadcasting roles such as draw duties and post-match presentations despite being part of the set-up for more than two decades.

When a user suggested if it could be his skin color, Sivaramakrishnan replied: “You’re right. Color discrimination.”“My retirement is nothing great. But the story of TV production is unfolding. You’ll see the bigger picture soon,” he added.Sivaramakrishnan, fondly known as Siva, was one of India’s most promising spinners in the early 1980s.He played nine Tests and 16 ODIs between 1983 and 1987, taking 26 wickets in Tests, including three five-wicket hauls, and 15 wickets in ODIs.He made his Test debut during India’s tour of the West Indies in 1983 and caught the eye after taking seven wickets for two runs in a home match as a youngster.
