Former IAS officer and city administration expert M. Prasada Rao (84) died in his residence in Mehdipatnam on Wednesday. After joining the former Department of the Municipal Administration Andhra Pradesh in 1964, Mr. Rao was promoted to the rank of IAS officer in 1984.
During his time, M. Prasada Rao worked as a commissioner of various municipalities and CEO of Andhra Pradesh Warehouse Corporation and Andhra Pradesh Stra Trading Corporation. In 2001 he retired as the director of the municipal administration, but because of his expertise he continued to contribute to the city administration.
In particular, M. Prasada Rao worked as a professor and chairman of HUDCO in MCR HRDTE, an external EPTRI expert, the head of the SPIU consultant in the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, and an expert in the city mission for Jawaharal Nezru Urban (Jnurm) until 2019.
M. Prasada Rao is remembered to introduce the concept of a civil charter in the state, now widely accepted. He survived his son and two daughters. Dr. MV Rao, head physician in Yashoda hospitals, is his son -in -law.
