Former football coach University of Tennessee Derek Doolyy joined the crowded Republican field on Monday, which is to defeat the democratic American senator Jon Ossoff in Georgia next year, and the Republican hope will expand his majority in the chamber.
Doooley, 57, supported by the Republican Governor Brian Cemp, offered his readiness to cooperate with President Donald Trump in a notification that demanded low taxes, smaller government, conservative social values and results for Georgians.
“I will work with President Trump, fight for you and always give Georgia the first,” Doooley said in a two -minute video.
Dooley, son of the legendary football coach University of Georgia Vince Dooly, never held a public office. He joined the race for the nomination for the Republican governor’s nomination, which includes two seated members of the US Chamber of Deputies, Buddy Carter and Mike Collins.
Republicans, who have repeatedly lost the competitions of the US Senate in Georgia in recent years, hope that they will require an Ossoff chair to expand their majority of the Senate 53-47 in the Senate during the cycle, which traditionally punishes the party of the seated president.
Georgia is one of the six Senate races that political analysts consider to be competitive. The other five are in Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire and North Carolina.
The Democrats face the battle uphill to capture the chamber control because they would have to defend the chairs in Michigan, Minnesota and New Hampshire, where the introduction leaves and overturns at least four Republican seats for most.
They are considered better chances of capturing the House of Representatives, although the efforts taking place in the strongly Republican Texas on the redraw district line could also destroy their chances in this chamber.
Georgian Republicans tried to persuade Kemp to run against Ossoff, but the popular two -year -old governor refused to enter the race.
“The last addition to the Georgian chaotic and chaotic GOP primary is the unsuccessful football coach who only ever spoke to the cheerleaders of Medicaid, which hurt Georgians,” said the Democratic Campaign Committee.
Dooley was the head coach at the University of Tennessee and Louisian Tech University. He also trained in the National Football League.
Ossoff did not violate former senator David Perde in the outflow after the elections in November 2020. Another Georgian Senator, Democrat Raphael Warnock, defeated former Republican Senator Kelley Loeffler in outflow and exceeded the challenge of Herschel Walker in 2022.
