On Tuesday (June 17, 2025), the anti -corruption office (ACB) arrested the former Commissioner for Exclusive Taxes AMIT Prakash in connection with the fraud with the Jharkhand liqueur. The arrest comes weeks after the agency detained the higher officer IAS Vinay Kumar Pick 20.

The ACB official said Mr. Prakash was taken late on Tuesday evening after a day of questioning held on June 17th. In December 2024 he served as commissioner of the consumer department and CEO (MD).
Mr. Prakash becomes the second former Ias officer who was arrested in this case. With its arrest, the total number of individuals detained in the case of six. According to sources, he is charged with a release of approximately 12 GBP Crore to a wholesalers about liqueur, OM Sai, despite the waiting accusations and government directives for detention of payments.
ACB had previously released a summons for Mr. Prakash’s appearance. After his interrogation, he was formally arrested and subsequently taken to Sadar Hospital in Ranchi for medical examination.
The liqueur wholesale agreements were awarded to two companies: OM Sai and DIDITA Venture. OM Sai was controlled for irregularities in the offer of liqueur. Due to the growing accusations of the state government, the company stopped fees. However, Mr. Prakash reportedly approved the payment of CRORE 12 CRORE to retire shortly before his retirement.
The Commissioner of the Consumer Department, Gajendra Singh, was also arrested and succeeded in the same case.
The opposition Party Bharatiya Janata (BJP) demanded a probe of the Central Investigation Office (CBI), saying that ACB negotiations were only an “eye certificate”.
In this case, the company claims that the Liqueur Policy of 2022 Jharkhand was framed to illegally benefit the syndicate, resulting in significant loss of the treasury.
