Former head of the special news office (SIB) T. Prabhakar Rao, the main accused of a high -profile phone knock, was grilled on Wednesday 11 June. The officials stated that during the interrogation he remained avoidable, especially when he was confronted with the evidence that directly linked him to the surveillance surgery.
Rao, who appeared in front of the Western Zone Police for the second time after his return to India, was questioned from 11:30 to 19:30 “It is deliberately vague, wherever evidence goes against him,” he said the official probe. Investigators allegedly focused on certain sensitive topics during the last round of the interrogation and are expected to continue aspects related to political supervision during his next performance on 14 June.
The former head of the news landed in Hyderabad on Sunday after months abroad. He quoted bad health to stay in the United States, despite the case registered by the police in Punjagutta a year ago. His return followed the Supreme Court Directive, which offered him protection against arrest if he appeared before the investigator within three days of receiving his travel documents.
The scandal disintegrated with the arrest of former Sib DSP Praneetha Rao 13. March 2024. He was picked up from his residence in the Rajanna-Sircilla district after his superior, another SP D. Ramesh, filed a complaint that Rao had unlawfully captured telephone huns of several political leaders and higher officials.
