Slater faced charges of attacking, strangulation, burglary and persecution against a woman in the Nosa area from the end of 2023.
Judge Glen Cash, who went through the sentence, explained that the root of Slater’s problems was clear.
“It is obvious, Mr. Slater, that you are an alcoholic,” he said.
“Unfortunately, your alcoholism ended your profession.

“Your rehabilitation will not be easy – alcoholism is part of your make -up.”
Slater was arrested in April last year and has been behind bars since then.
In 2022, in the case of domestic violence, he was convicted of attacking and intimidation and was included in a two -year community repair order.

In April 2024, he was arrested and charged with 19 crimes, including illegal persecution, an attack that causes bodily harm and suffocation or strangulation, after alleged incidents on the Queensland Sunshield.
Slater played 74 tests for Australia, scored 5312 runs and 14 centuries in a long form of play. He also played in 42 one -day internationalists for his country.
