A US man who moved back to India 5 years ago pondered the benefits of staying in the home country. He left behind the ‘H1B grind’ and claimed that if one finds satisfactory employment in their country, one is mentally and physically well off. He listed three key reasons for his conviction and emphasized that he has no regrets about making this life-changing decision.
The caption of the post reads: “Why I don’t regret moving back to India!!”
He lived in the United States for a total of 8 years and returned in 2020 before the COVID-19 lockdown. In a post on Reddit, he called it a rewarding journey, saying: “I moved back to India in 2020, just before the lockdown. It was through an internal transfer at work.”
Describing the occasional negatives, he wrote: “Sometimes people can make insensitive comments or be too interested in your personal life. But honestly, compared to the constant immigration struggles abroad, these are small, manageable things.”
He reiterated the benefits, saying that moving back gave him his freedom, creativity, identity, a clearer path to retirement and simplified his life.
In the third part of his post, he suggested some key points to keep in mind before taking a drastic decision to return to India. According to the Redditor, one must have enough savings, an active income stream, and own a home. In addition, one should be prepared to deal with high levels of pollution, bad roads, tricky relatives, lost friendships and associations. In addition, intra-company transfers and investment opportunities should be sought in India.
He ended his post by saying, “Moving back to India is rewarding, it’s largely about peace and belonging, but also about being financially prepared, career ready, emotionally resilient and purposeful about the life you want to build.”
