Forest Minister Shibu Baby John to Inaugurate Conclave on Human-Wildlife Conflict in Kozhikode

A state-level conclave on farmer safety and mitigating human-wildlife conflict will be held at Thiruvambady in Kozhikode district on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), where farmers, experts, elected representatives and officials will meet to discuss scientific and practical solutions to wildlife attacks.

Forest and Wildlife Minister Shibu Baby John will inaugurate the conclave at the Sacred Heart Church Parish Hall in Thiruvambady at 10 a.m. Agriculture Minister T. Siddique will preside over the event organized by the Agriculture Department in collaboration with the Forest Department.

Revenue Minister AP Anilkumar, MPs MK Raghavan, Shafi Parambil and Priyanka Gandhi, MLAs, officials from various departments and industry experts are expected to attend the day-long conclave, which will end at 5 pm.

According to organizers, the discussion will focus on scientific and technological measures to prevent attacks on wildlife and reduce the possibility of human-wildlife conflict. They said the conclave will seek to bring together scientific knowledge, technological solutions and experiences of farming communities to develop practical models to protect farmers.

Measures to improve the safety of farmers and reduce crop and livelihood losses from wildlife attacks are also expected to figure in the discussions. According to forest department officials, the conclave is intended as a platform to identify solutions that can be implemented on the ground in areas often affected by human-wildlife conflict.
