The forest department registered the case for the mysterious deaths of nine hoods of macaques near Palode, Thiruvananthapuram.
The blast was found on a rubber plantation and on Sunday in a nearby stream in Mankayam. The presence of foam and foam around their mouth caused suspicion of possible poisoning or illness.
Postmort research was carried out on Monday at the State Institute for Animal Disease in Palode. While preliminary findings of necropy did not provide any convincing cause that led to death, a comprehensive report is expected. In addition, a toxicological evaluation will also be carried out to explore the presence of poison.
Official sources also indicated the possibility of sending samples to the National Institute for Animal Disease with High Safety, Bhopal. The tests could clarify the possibility of possible outbreaks of forest diseases in Kyasanuru (Monkey Fever), viral haemorrhagic fever -transmitted ticks, within the American population in the region.
The main animal threat threw a normal life out of the equipment in several parts of Pangode and Peringamala Gram Panchayats. The main threats come from wild elephants, wild buildings and monkeys.
While elephants caused extensive damage by often embarking on residential areas, destroying crops and creating panic between the local population, monkeys (hood macques) also cause confusion when they often enter the houses, destroy food supplies and damage property, including electric bulbs and wiring systems. Also, some school spaces were contaminated by monkeys, thereby representing serious security risks for students.
The agricultural community in the region also complained that monkeys have recently destroyed coconut trees and fruit crops, sources said.
