Forensic scientist and adviser to the state government on forensic science, KPC Gandhi, on Saturday highlighted the transformative role of science, forensic research and moral courage in nation building.
Addressing the 72nd annual celebrations at Andhra Loyola College (ALC), Mr. Gandhi exhorted students to integrate knowledge with social commitment and to uphold truth and justice in their professional lives.
The director of the college Fr. Sr. Melchior expressed his gratitude to the institute’s founding fathers, whose vision has continued to guide the institution for more than seven decades. He said the college currently offers five intermediate groups, 28 undergraduate programs and two postgraduate programs to cater to 4,616 students with a faculty strength of 153 and 110 non-teaching staff.
He said that ALC remained the only college from Andhra Pradesh to be consistently ranked among the top 150 colleges in the National Institutional Ranking (NIRF) since 2017 and that the UGC had extended its autonomous status for another 10 years, from 2025 to 2031.
The college principal also highlighted the significant achievements of the students at the national and university level. Kodali Rina received the National Award for Merit Dr. Ambedkar with ₹60,000 for academic excellence. In the NCC field, Cadet D. Vijaya Lakshmi brought laurels to the institution by securing the title of ‘Best Rider – Girls, Republic Day 2026’ at the national level, earning recognition from the NCC Directorate General, New Delhi.
The celebrations ended with colorful cultural performances. The students presented themed dances promoting national integrity and unity in diversity, reflecting the spirit of harmony and patriotism. A staff script on current trends creatively showcased Loyola’s pride, institutional values, and the evolving role of education in modern society.
