The Minister of the Interior of the Union AMIT Shah said on Monday (April 14, 2025) that the ministry is working on an agreement to allow certain samples received by government forensic scientific laboratories (FSL) to analyze private laboratories.
Mr. Shah said that 30,000 trained experts need to visit every crime scene where the punishment is more than seven years according to new criminal laws. He noted that every year about 36,000 students at the National Forensic Science of University (NFSU), many of which will continue in private forensic laboratories.
The Minister said that, given the prudent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government set up NFSU in 2020, while in 2024 three new criminal laws entered into force. He said that seven NFSU campuses would be set up in different countries and nine other campuses would be set up in the next six months. In addition, the establishment of 10 other campuses is also proposed.
Mr. Shah paid tribute to Brus and told Babasaheb to complete the Indian Constitution. “Our constitution is not just a book. It has a system for protection of the body, property and honor of every citizen and forensic science now plays a very useful role in strengthening the criminal judiciary system associated with the protection of these three,” Shah said.
When he focused on the forensic science of all India 2025, organized by NFSU, he emphasized the need to categorize the perpetrator into the usual criminals, those who were led to crime in circumstances, and those who have committed crimes of necessity. He emphasized the importance of providing psychological counseling to these individuals in prison, to encourage them to become responsible citizens.
