Given the endless delays in the issuing of permanent registrations (BRS) to foreign medical graduates (FMG), who studied part of their online course during the pandemic, more than 250 graduates of Andhra Pradesh reportedly decided to do neighboring states to perform a compulsory intervention.
Although there are no data that could provide an exact number, many graduates think that the number of those who have left other states, of the three batches of May and November 2024 and January 2025, could easily be more than 250.
FMG, after completing their medical courses, equivalent to MBB in India, from foreign universities, must delete an exam of foreign medical graduates (FMGE) and complete a compulsory internship at the assigned medical school to be eligible for PR, without which FMG cannot further study or establish a clinic in India.
When the pandemic struck, many students returned to India because the way of studying was online. Foreign universities were awarded a compensatory certificate to those who returned to the campus and completed the training and wrote the final offline exams.
However, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued several instructions in these aspects. 7 June 2024 said that every FMG he studied online during the pandemic should undergo a two -year internship. After resistance, the Commission issued another announcement on 19 June 2024, stating that an annual internship should be assigned to those who have a reward certificate.
A clear position elsewhere
In response to the RTI filed by FMGS, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Pandjab, Haryan and Gujarat, they replied that they were assigning a one -year internship to those who have compensation certificates.
But Medical Council Andhra Pradesh (APMC) insists on a two -year internship FMG for various reasons, including lack of complete details in letters of remuneration. Last year, the reason for the cited APMC for the rejection of breasts was the lack of a council authority. Now, even after his creation, the delay continues.
While breast release remains waiting, there is also confusion about the allocation of internships for the dose of students who wrote FMGE in January 2025. While the advice began, certificates are verified. Certificates are usually verified and according to FMGS the internship is assigned on the same day.
According to information from Telangan Medical Council, of 143 FMG, who came from other countries for advice, most of them came from the AP “But because there was no vacancies, we could not accommodate all at the medical faculties,” said TG Medical Council.
When he asked, the chairman of APMC D. SEEHARI Rao confirmed that several students went to other countries, but it is not clear to the number. When asked what causes delay in the implementation of counseling, the chairman said that the verification process takes a long time.
Inconsistencies
“Students did not clearly mention the length of online studies when they returned to India. They can all be real cases, but many may not know about the importance of mentioning these details. In some other cases, the date of return does not correspond to their travel data.
On the other hand, FMG wonders why the AP should be a problem when certificates are accepted in telangana and other countries.
We take their problems, the state Minister of Health Satya Kumar Yadav asked members of APMC to visit the new Delhi and gain clarity from NMC. Until then, the future of FMG, approximately 500 in number, in balance.
