Former coach India Anil Kumble said that for Virt Kohli and Rohit Sharma, it will not be easy to maintain the level of Fitness needed for ODI cricket, especially after withdrawal from tests and T20i. The legendary Spinner, however, stressed that both the virat and Rohit must be celebrated for the rest of his career.
Especially, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the test cricket, 10 months after withdrawal from T20is to victory in India World Cup T20 in June 2025. Both stars Kohli and Rohit now remain only available for one -day international.
Their future ODI came under control, without a clear hint of how long they plan to continue format. Another main 50-over tournament is the World Championship in 2027 and the duo was last played by ODI during the Indian triumph in the trophy in March this year. Both significantly contributed-the highest in the semifinals against Australia, while Rohit was named a match player for his 76 in the final against New Zealand. Uncertainty still persists over their long -term commitment in the format.
“It’s not just easy to do what they need to prepare for ODI, which is six months after a row. It will be a challenge, no matter who you are and how well you had your career over the years,” Kumble said.
“But they are champions players, so they know how to maneuver it, and it’s important to celebrate the champions players if they play.
“It is important to celebrate anything that is there with these two players. Ideally, they would like to play until the World Cup 2027, because it is something that has not happened. We have seen the 2023 finals (World Cup) with Australia holding a trophy,” he said.
India is scheduled to play three ODIs and five T20is in Australia in October-series High White-Ball profiles that could be Rohit and Kohli. Kumble believes that the Senior Duo will be decided that the impact will turn out, especially after a shortage in the World Cup finals 2023.
“Legends that no longer play in a different format will certainly want to make a brand, virat and corner, and I’m sure many people would like to watch it in Australia,” he said.
“I feel that someone like Yashasvi Jaiswal Sai Sudharsan, I think, gets into this team, even if it’s not part of it. (But) I think he will have in England on the basis and he will be careful about.”
