The MBB Airport Airport Committee at MBB Airport (AEMC) strongly proposed to establish an area without birds around the airport to ensure safe and sustainable flight operations, said an official on Saturday (June 21, 2025).
The birds without birds should have a district of 10 km, which Aemc suggested, the official said.
The current development occurred after the aircraft of the private airline crashed shortly after take -off in Ahmedabad and on June 12, 274 people killed.
“The Airfield (AEMC) meeting of the Airfield Administration Committee (AEMC) was successfully carried out on Thursday at Agartale Airport under the Presidency of the District Judge (DM) from West Tripura, Vishal Kumar.
The aim of the meeting said that the aim is to review and strengthen the procedures of environmental management at and its surroundings to ensure safe and sustainable operations.
Mr. Meena said that the discussion of effective waste disposal, bird danger control, fixed waste manipulation near airports and coordination between the agencies for maintaining the ecological environment of the airport.
“We strongly suggest that the 10 km circuit around the airport is a zone without birds that will ensure safe and sustainable flight operations. This strengthens the environmental ecosystem at the airport and ensures safety and sustainability in its operations,” Meena said.
Mr. Meena emphasized the approach of cooperation needed for continuous monitoring and timely actions to alleviate environmental risks affecting the safety of aviation.
He added that the DM provided full support of the district administration in implementing the necessary measures and strengthening the coordination of the parties.
The meeting witnessed the active participation of key stakeholders, including representatives of Agartal Municipal Corporation (AMC), District Health Services, Police, Office for Blocks and various agencies at the airport.
