Tiger and dog trapped in a pit on a cardamom plantation in Kadukkacity near Nettithoz, in idukki on Sunday in idukki
Everyone was wondering why the tiger did not eat a dog – after all, they were barely stuck with their feet apart in a deep pit on a private cardamom plantation in Kadukkacita, Vandanmed Gram Panchayat in Idukki on Sunday for more than five hours.
Kottayam Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) offered an explanation that many surprised: At moments of shared danger, the instinct can suppress the impulse to hunt for survival. “In such situations wild animals usually do not attack; their only goal is to escape the danger. An extraordinary view of the grace of wilderness, where survival has been struck by a savage.” Mr. Rajesh said.
The official also stated that such incidents were reported from different parts of the country in the past. In a similar incident in February 2021, Leopard, who was imprisoned together with the dog in the toilet of the farm in Karnataka for nine hours, a few feet from the dogs and did not attack him.
PS Easa’s wildlife expert watched that usually tigers hunt dogs, but leopards are prey for dogs. “When the dog notices the presence of a tiger, it can bark, which causes the tiger to chase him, which can lead both animals to fall into the trap,” Dr. Easa further that when both animals in IDUKKI were trapped, their primary instinct was escaped.
