Officers of various security agencies perform a special operation in the coastal regions of the state after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
Officers of the Coast Security Police (CSP) and Uttara Kannada and other agencies are visited by ships and ships on the coast of Carwar and other cities and villages.
Inspection visits have intensified in the last few days. A detailed inspection took place on Wednesday and Thursday. Security has been tightened along the coast and officers say other measures.
“Our officers control various things, infiltration of citizens of hostile nations and other criminals and transport of material or weapons smuggled and weapons. The inspection teams are coordinated and have been well trained. The operation will continue for some time until other instructions are received.”
Similar operations are on other coastal districts of Karnataka, Goa and Keral, said the officer.
“We are checking whether some Pakistani nationals travel on any of the ships carrying material from the west of Asian countries and other nations and whether they carry valid documents. Inspection officials were instructed to ensure that no Pakistani would get out of the boats and enter the state,” the officer said.
“If there are members of the crew of Pakistani on the boats, all their documents, including their passports, are collected. It is common for cargo ships to arrive at commercial ports of Mangalur and Karwar.
Fishing boats are also checked on the coast. Continuous inspections are carried out on bridges and water canals. Supervision is maintained in sensitive areas and some residential colonies in the district, the officers said.
Karwar is a strategically important place because it has a nuclear device in Kaize and the naval base of Ins Kadamba. It also has a commercial port Karwar. The work is to build a project of commercial port Keny Mega, which was approved. Therefore, the state government takes all measures in terms of security, the officers say.
